Family members charged in death of man in North Frontenac

KINGSTON — Ontario Provincial Police have identified a young Campbellford man as the victim of a homicide on Saturday in North Frontenac.

Tyler Webber, 22, was found dead at the scene of a disturbance call near Bishop Lake at about 6:30 p.m.

OPP officers arrested Cory Finch, 39, of Marmora and Michelle Lee Finch, 41, of Stone Mills Township. Both are charged with second-degree murder and remained in custody Wednesday.

The OPP confirmed that Webber and the Finches were members of the same family. They also confirmed that no weapons were involved in the incident.

During a July 30 court appearance, the Finches were ordered to not communicate with Webber’s family, seven other people or each other. They were scheduled to reappear in court next Tuesday.

A news release from the OPP said there was no threat to public safety.

“The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Frontenac OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service,” the OPP said in a news release.
